The First Show

Soulful tragedies to me is about the two opposing forces that we feel when we have a relationship. Not limited to romantic relationships we are torn by the logic of the whole affair as well as the hearts wants and emotions. Constructing the figures from rough materials was therapeutic in a way as I was adding a little of my fabric of being to the figure with the burlap. The wire felt like the discipline that is harder to construct but is my fabric of being. The plaster a hard exterior that we normally internalize laid bare for people to see. This roughness is then hid by a screen to showcase that below the surface, should people take a look behind the soft silhouetted exterior they find the hidden reality. The position of the the figures on the opposing side of the galleries represent the distant conversation and conflict between logic and feelings.
